Sweet Inspiration

For the last few weeks I have felt SO uninspired. It is a beautiful world, but when the task is to look beyond the essay deadlines and revision timetables to find it, the world’s appeal becomes harder to see.

But here are a few recent images that have opened my eyes again… Perhaps they’ll do the same for you!

Ain't No Sunshine

Being hooked on People.com and 90210, I'm starting to feeling really distressed that I can't wake up in the morning and put on a gorgeous summer dress... The weather in Edinburgh has been ridiculous - last night the fog descended and the city looked like a scene from Dickins.

Tomorrow I will return to London - my soulmate - and I am praying that Spring has arrived there. 413 miles south of here, the weather will be entirely different!

Great News!

There is FINALLY a European site for Anthropologie!

I love the London store, and now I can realistically buy online and get it shipped for just a fiver! The U.S. site charged more for shipping to the UK than the merchandise!

Burlesque On The Wall

If I wasn't still living at home, or if my guardians weren't extremely Christian, I would totally throw this up on my new walls...

What does it say about me that I think this is really cool?

Bumpkin Chic

When I first started at Edinburgh, I found a kid's Barbour in the sale for £40 - it was the bargain of the CENTURY. I love my blue Barbour. It's the most brilliantly practical jacket, and I honestly think there's something cool about its shapelessness

However, I never knew it could be THIS cool!

You'd better believe I will roll up my sleeves and hunt for a cool hat to pair it with!

Living in Light

My bedroom lightbulb blew today, and they're impossible to replace. The room gets very little natural light, facing whichever direction never lets the sun in, so I have been sitting in the dark with nothing to work by but one sad little lamp and the light of my laptop screen... Naturally I am dreaming of beautiful light sunny spaces...

Dakota Rocks!

I watched Dakota Fanning on Leno last night and I just love her. I've been seeing her everywhere and I know everyone agrees with me that she has astonishing poise and seems wonderfully grounded... But she's also an emerging Style Icon! No question about it...

Dakota in Italian Vogue - AMAZING

I was completely uninterested in seeing The Runaways until I saw the trailer, now I can't wait! What could be better about a real story of girls gone wild in the 70's punk rock world?

Whether the movie rocks or not, I have a massive crush on Dakota!

Oh Boy, Obama!

This is absolutely my new favourite site... mrs-o.org follows the fashion of the gorgeous First Lady...

Michelle Obama's style is modern in the best way. She wears current seasons from the best up-and-comers in the fashion world, but she is also elegant, timeless, a lady. In a culture dominated by the Jordan's and the Paris's and the Lindsay's of the world, it's wonderful to see a woman become a real and wonderful role model. It is true that she is famous for being someone's wife, but anyone can see that a First Lady wields enormous power as an individual as well as a couple.

Is she cooler than Abbey Bartlet? Too close to call...

So Simple...

Finding great curtains is proving difficult... But then, why use just one fabric? I love how this enables a broader, beautiful palette to be introduced into the room, and that the eclecticism isn't overwhelming because the walls are just white... I will now turn my attentions to finding a collection of perfectly mismatching-but-totally-coordinated panels of fabric! All hail, Interior Design blogs!!

Time Moves On and Leaves Me Behind...

Have you ever had one of those weekends where, even on Monday your mind is still replaying every moment, over and over, because it was so wonderful that you don’t want to leave it behind?

Oh that every night could be so full of dancing and laughter and friends!

Is it Spring? Is it Autumn? Who the hell knows!

I love love love Isabel Marant's show... I love the proportions. AMAZING proportions.

However, if A/W'10 means bare legs and sky-high minis, then you can count me in!

Slate, Gun Metal, Sable... Jersey, sequins, fur!

Just amazing...

When I Grow Up...

I am incredibly blessed. My parents are giving me an education which offers me choices. Choices some people could never dream of.

I have choices about my future. I could be a lawyer, or a journalist, I could be in PR, advertising, teaching (if I could tolerate kids), publishing, politics (if I suddenly started reading the newspaper)...

Having options is an incredible blessing, but it also means, you know, I have to CHOOSE!

Well, DVF sums up what I'm thinking right now... Maybe some of you out there feel the same way...

Long Overdue...

Dear Readers, I have been unforgivably absent.

The essays are now in, I have unpacked several thousands boxes in our new family home (which had no Wifi) and I am BACK...

So, yesterday... The Oscars...

General consensus is that Elie Saab won the red carpet war... Rachel McAdams' dress was my personal favourite. Anna Kendrick's was gorgeous too.

Rachel and Ann.... Oooh Yes...

Marchesa comes a close second, for being bold but still pretty...
I was surprised at Miley, she looked stunning!
V E R Y ladylike...
Kristin, despite COMPLETELY mucking up her lines (and, really, what was she doing up there anyway?) she did rock her Monique Lhuillier dress...
J-Lo and Amanda's Armani Prive dresses were my least favourite...
Structural in all the wrong ways...
Probably the biggest fashion boo-boo was made by Charlize... And Dior...
O-hooo-noooo...

If anyone's interested, I would and will wear one of these when it's my turn to walk the most fabulous carpet of all...

Elie Saab Spring 2010 Couture
I would die for any of these dresses, I really would...
Chanel Spring 2010 Couture
Obviously minus the creepy look and the cr-A-zy hair...
