Summer in the City

Summer in the UK means one thing to me. Cute outfits. During the winter months, we become so preoccupied with warmth, and so laden with layers, that ‘cuteness’ gets pushed way down on the list of priorities. But the sun is gradually becoming a regular feature in my life, and so, big shoes, and tiny dresses are finally feasible outfits! I have a particular grudge against tights – they cage our legs for months at a time! – bare legs, how glorious! Feeling air on your six-month shrouded shins is the most wonderful sensation in the world!

Ode to Olsen...

I want to be an Olsen. I do. Shamelessly. They can make anything look good, but they don’t need to… Because they can have ANYTHING they want. Between the short, full-skirted trench and the PS1 satchel… I’m in love…

A Cloud of Chiffon...

What could be more glorious than walking to streets in outfits like this? Some day, I will wonder the streets with chiffon billowing behind me, and bedazzled shoes, while passers-by scurry past in their workaday denim…

Another Reason to go to Topshop...

Topshop is doing make up now! I am, in general, an enormous fan of all things Topshop, so I’m curious about the quality of their new line. The palette is wonderfully springy, I can’t wait to try some of it out!

Coming Soon to a Laptop Near You...

Karl made a movie. Apparently it will air at 7.30 CET (Central European Time!) on chanel-news.com..

I am not even remotely concerned about whether there is some kind of plot. Every big-name model seems to appear, and the Karl-Chanel styling is in every pixel at every moment... Even the trailer is PAINFULLY stylish...

What a perfect post-exam treat!

Powerful Stone

Fashion is art. But it’s rare that the two are so closely related. Cupid and Psyche by Antonio Canova sits in the Louvre, and when I saw it there, in the marble flesh, I got chills. It was one of those encounters with art that brings tears to your eyes. I think we forget how powerful art can be. I love the parallel between this photo and the great and beautiful sculpture.

SJP

People say that SJP is ‘ugly’. I just can’t believe my ears when I hear things like that… ‘Striking’, ‘Stunning’, ‘Unique’ are a nod towards the rhetoric I prefer…

Met Gala: The Ugly & Grotesque

The Bad

Pink and frothy? This isn’t a tasteless wedding! It’s the MET GALA!

Like an unflattering ‘Little House on the Prairie’ Halloween costume

We all know Katy Perry enjoys novelty fashion, but, really? A GLOWING dress? For the Met?? No.

The Slightly Less Bad

Really unflattering. Really.

I love the dress, but it looks like she needs a square meal and a tailor to take that baby in!

I know it seems like I take every opportunity to rag on Kristen, but come on! Who looks this rubbish in Chanel couture?! It takes a special kind of person to make Chanel boring…

Met Gala: Favourites

The Met Gala. The one invitation every one of us would kill for. Actually kill. Homicide would be nothing in the face of all that glamour!

The collaborations were quite disappointing, but there were lots of stunning dresses to ogle!
