Death and Romance Inextricably Linked...

I think this may be the most romantic song ever written, in a seriously Romeo and Juliet kind of way...

Ben Gibbard is a poet.

Love of mine some day you will die

But I'll be close behind

I'll follow you into the dark

No blinding light or tunnels to gates of white

Just our hands clasped so tight

Waiting for the hint of a spark

If Heaven and Hell decide

That they both are satisfied

Illuminate the NOs on their vacancy signs

If there's no one beside you

When your soul embarks

Then I'll follow you into the dark

Knit-Wit

There's something sexy about cable knit. I don't know why - it seems to go against everything knitting stands for.
Perhaps it started with Meredith Grey's cable knits in Grey's Anatomy.
None the less, knitwear is everything to me in this weather, so I'm on the hunt for great knits…

When I Grow Up...

I was going to post this picture from Stockholm Street Style, under the pretense of 'When I grow up I want to dress like this...'

...but then MIROSLAVA happened!

She looks so sophisticated. It really works.

I just want to be her. So badly.

Wanna Trade?

Dear Siri Tollerød,

Can we trade faces?

Pretty please?

A Long Time Coming...

Britney Spears looks fantastic. I think it's easier to appreciate, considering how much she's had to work to get her life, body and career back on track... Check it out! She's HOT!

Kudos, Brit. I'm headed to American Apparel ASAP to get my hands on a '3' style bodysuit!

Surprising Wisdom from Mirander Kerr...

Mirander Kerr was quoted as saying "I was blessed with good genetics. I'm not saving lives here."

I mean... You just... That's... You know??

The girl's got SENSE!! Obviously, she means what we consider good genetics in the 21st century western world, but still...

Also, mad props for that slammin' body...

High Street High Fashion

I've followed The Cherry Blossom Girl for a long time now, but I've never fallen for one of her outfits quite like this. Not only is it very 'of the moment' in the unintentional way we all try so hard to achieve, but it's all from the high street! The dress is H&M, the cardigan is Massimo Dutti and the boots are Topshop. So simple. So perfect. I just love the palette as well, it's autumnal but it's also light and sexy.

Adopt Me!

Is this the coolest family that has ever existed? I think so...

I wonder if they're looking to adopt a house-broken, 21-year-old...

Hard Abs, Soft Porn...

New Moon. We're all blogging about it!

I was genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed it. However, it did strike me that new director Chris Weitz wasn't shy about appealing to our carnal nature. An inch or two more of flesh and the title would have been 'New Mooning' and the DVD would have to be sold in a brown paper bag.

Not that I'm complaining. The whole thing was delicious.

Trying This At Home!

The S/S'10 show by Christian Dior has one major highlight for me... The Hair!

Jak&Jil took these photos of the models pre-show...

My GOD! I can't wait to get my hands on some curl clips so I can try this! The result is so chic…

As a side note, I totally bought these socks in Topshop several seasons ago... Don't you love it when that happens. Oh, happy, cyclical fashion, how I love you...

Noughties Style: The 'Rushed' Look

Who among us is not guilty of making our hurried appearance part of our aesthetic?

Increasingly it is becoming part of peoples' conciousenss that an 'accessory' is not only that which is purchased on the ground floor of a major department store - bag, gloves, scarf, headband - but runs to all the elements of our outfit that fringe the basic components of clothing.

Crucial acceossories now include:

1. A Blackberry or iPhone

Typically wearing a colourful protective outfit of its own, clutched as if the wearer can predict that at any moment a call or text of vital importance will require immediate attention and instantaneous reply.

2. A Starbucks Beverage

The contents of the Starbucks container is irrelevant. The container itself, however, speaks volumes of the wearer. A Starbucks (RED) Tumbler says 'I'm both eco-friendly and AIDs-conscious'. An ordinary Starbucks Tumbler says 'I am usually running so late that I don't have time for my absolutely essential caffeine fix'. A Starbucks take-away cup just says 'COFFEE! NOW!'

As well as having one's hands full with these items, and the traditional handbag, there is also the addition of the zeitgeist-y white headphones of an ipod, and Raybans, both of which firmly say 'Kindly, fuck off'.

And, in this, as in all things, The Olsens do it best...

Kit Kemp is Fantastically Weird

Kit Kemp is the interior designer of the Firmdale Hotel group - and what a group!

I completely love her aesthetic. She calls it "English eccentric", I call it Wonderfully and Wickedly Weird.

I was lucky enough to stay at The Charlotte Street Hotel and it's not only beautiful but also functional, and serenely atmospheric... I fell in love with it. I wanted to move in permanently. Perhaps the best I can do for now is be bolder in my own aesthetic, and save up for a stay at the brand new Crosby Street Hotel, NYC!

Model Me, Max...

Maximilian Sinsteden.
My new hero. He transformed his dorm room at Drew University into this…

It makes my heart break a little to think that I lived in a clinical, pastel-coloured dorm and didn’t transform it into a Ralph Lauren-inspired mini-palace.

I love his aesthetic. Especially, his bar tray table. I want it!

Having said that, he's definitely not getting his deposit back...

More Wisdom from 'Rules for My Unborn Son'...

I realised today that I rarely look check-out people in the eye... It's a terrible thing. There should never been a moment when one is so involved in thought that we forget to interact with other human beings...

Rule #245. Look people in the eye when you thank them, especially waiters.

All You Need Is...

Everything - music, film, art, literature - tells us that life is all about love. Give it, receive it, share it around...

If you have it, appreciate it. If you want it, look for it.

In the mean time, here are some lovely little love-related things... Why? Because it's Tuesday! Why else?

My Nose is Froze. And My Ears are Froze. And My Toes are Froze.

I don't know about you, but it's getting really cold here. Good old Scotland!

One of my favourite 21st Birthday presents was a pair of cranberry coloured cashmere mittens. They're saving my life!
