When Good Dresses Happen To Good People With No Style...

I blogged this Marchesa dress after it showed in the Fall 2010 show, and never imagined it would turn up on the VMA’s white carpet, NOR did I imagine it would be worn by Katy Perry!

Now, no disrespect to Ms Perry whose ‘Teenage Dream’ was my song of the summer, but she doesn’t exactly represent the magnificence of high fashion, which is what this dress epitomises. This is not a marriage of equals.

My guess is, Ms Perry liked this dress because it has both poof AND sparkle (which would appear to be what she looks for in a dress), but I think she misunderstood the nature of this particular poof and sparkle. Bad. Bad, bad, bad.

Haircut Heartbreak

A few weeks ago, I had the most heart-breaking, soul-destroying haircut. If I learned anything from the experience, I would say, do NOT, under any circumstance take a book to the hairdresser. I was so engrossed in The Living Doll that I paid no attention to what was going on behind me. It was a mistake that resulted in a style resembling ‘The Rachel’ circa 1995… I am ashamed to say that I sobbed for the loss of my locks. Like Sampson, unmanned by Delilah, so was I robbed of my power by some ‘bubbly’, Australian wench.

Each time I look at it, crassly layered and unruly, I get depressed, and thus am considering going short. I was desperate to grow it long again, but if there was every a good reason to have the chop, here she is…

Isn't There A Spell To Reverse That?

Emma Watson is showing us how NOT to do ‘festival style’. A corset top that looks like a prop from a bad Renaissance sitcom, too long, too short, too tight denim shorts, a bag that looks like it came from the gift shop at a Caribbean hotel and wellies with long socks! Ok, if you’re not in the UK, then you won’t know that the weather at the moment is stiflingly hot. How in the world is she wearing socks and wellies?! I was roasting today in ballet pumps!!
