The Fall of Fabric

There’s nothing better than beautifully draped fabric. It flatters a woman’s body like nothing else can. Also, is that a baby bump under Rachel Zoe’s gorgeous black dress? I hope so – I just adore her and ‘Rog’!

Paris, Je T'Aime

I love to discover new blogs, and then tell you about them! Little Brown Pen is like Parisian porn. Paris, next to London, is my favourite city, and the Little Brown Pen is a collection of stunning photographs of one of the most beautiful places in the world. She has an unfalteringly good eye. Hooray for Paris, and Little Brown Pen!

"The higher the heels - the closer to heaven!”

Today has been a day of blog discoveries. Finding SSA, led me to Sandra, the Finnish beauty living in London, has fantastic personal style, I’m totally hooked! Check it out! I love this quote: "The higher the heels - the closer to heaven!"

Good Toe, Naughty Toe...

There are few things in the world more beautiful and graceful than ballerinas. I still want to be a ballet dancer when I grow up, despite the fact that I gave up lessons when I was 5 years old... The photographs from The Ballerina Project mixes the elegance and poise of ballerinas with the harsh and dramatic landscape of New York City - I love the contradiction, it makes for beautifully striking images.

Wowey...

The beautiful blogger, Alix, from The Cherry Blossom Girl, (one of my ol’faithful blogs) got married over the weekend. From the look of the two photographs she has teased us with, the dress is, as you would expect, no less than stunning couture. So, I’m sharing them with you in turn. I haven’t made up my mind up about the institution of marriage, but I DO love a good wedding. Absolutely beautiful.

Flame-haired Maiden and Lion Cubs...

I’m just in love with Julianne Moore. She is the most beautiful woman. Red headed women, I have long believed, are the most beautiful. Something about their bone structure, that cream-coloured skin… If I could have anyone’s looks, well Julianne would be high on my list. Stunning.

Bird of Paradise

Alex Wek for Dutch Glamour. I just think this is so beautiful – I wish we could all walk around decorated in rainbow colours. Too, too stunning.

Coming Soon to a Laptop Near You...

Karl made a movie. Apparently it will air at 7.30 CET (Central European Time!) on chanel-news.com..

I am not even remotely concerned about whether there is some kind of plot. Every big-name model seems to appear, and the Karl-Chanel styling is in every pixel at every moment... Even the trailer is PAINFULLY stylish...

What a perfect post-exam treat!

Powerful Stone

Fashion is art. But it’s rare that the two are so closely related. Cupid and Psyche by Antonio Canova sits in the Louvre, and when I saw it there, in the marble flesh, I got chills. It was one of those encounters with art that brings tears to your eyes. I think we forget how powerful art can be. I love the parallel between this photo and the great and beautiful sculpture.

SJP

People say that SJP is ‘ugly’. I just can’t believe my ears when I hear things like that… ‘Striking’, ‘Stunning’, ‘Unique’ are a nod towards the rhetoric I prefer…

Sweet Inspiration

For the last few weeks I have felt SO uninspired. It is a beautiful world, but when the task is to look beyond the essay deadlines and revision timetables to find it, the world’s appeal becomes harder to see.

But here are a few recent images that have opened my eyes again… Perhaps they’ll do the same for you!

Wixson the Vixon (aha!)

I spotted Lindsey Wixson in the Miu Miu S/S'10 campaign in the new Vogue - I can't find an image of it online, she's wearing a stunning bird-print skirt which I'm in love with... There's hot debate on TFS as to wether or not she's the Next Big Thing... I have to say, I love her look. She embodies the 'weird beauty' the fashion industry is embracing in their models. She's refreshing after the stunning Giselles and the rock'n'roll Frejas.... She is also only 15 which is a little alarming... Still, she seems to have her head screwed on, so she'll do just fine! I just love how her face changes completely when she smiles...

Beautiful Freak

Have you ever looked at a model? I mean really looked. It's no wonder we admire them so much. How many women in the world are 5 foot 8 and above and have the discipline to stay dramatically underweight?

I'm not writing this as a complaint or a criticism, but rather because I'm in awe. If I ever saw Chanel Iman in the street I'd think the aliens had landed, or the underfed giants had come out to play with their food, dressed to kill.

There's something bird-like about her. Say what you will about models and the fashion industry but there's a reason they're so extraordinary, because they're NOT ORDINARY. They're beautiful creatures from another world.

The World Through Her Eyes...

Anyone can take a photograph. It's such a common medium now. However, it strikes me that a photographer is someone who can capture an image of something we look at all the time and make it seem brand new.

Alex Beadon is the master of the brand new familiar. From faces to fashion to fire, she has a remarkable skill to see things in a totally fresh, beautiful way. Colourful, striking, fun, moments in time, perfectly frozen in time for us to enjoy!

I just love her work, and I hope you do too.

Body Beautiful

A couple of images to capture the beauty and elegance of what God (or whoever!) gave every woman...
