Cracking the (Dress) Code

Once a year, I have need for a full-length dress. In the 21st century, 'white tie' is something one doesn't expect to see on an invitation. However, there are those who occasionally require something full-length, and... here's the kicker... Cheap!

It would be the easiest thing in the world to find a couture gown for thousands that would reach the floor, however, as a student on a tight budget, my 'white tie' also needs to be dirty cheap.

There are some high street options that present themselves - BCBG in Harvey Nichols and Monsoon will delivery what's needed for £200-£300, but that's pretty steep for us lowly students! The other problem with these options is that they're too obvious. It's total fashion snobbery, but a white tie ball with 300 people in attendance means 150 girls around the city need a long, formal dress, and a lot of them won't look further than the high street to find it.

£150, Monsoon

Well, for the second time, ASOS had the answer for me. Less than £50 for a white tie gown? Jackpot! The best part, though, is that it gives us girls the option of dressing individually - simple, effective dresses that can be styled however we like!

The one with the amazing back. Do it! Also, perhaps a branch out from black...? Thoughts?
